Trip to China (part 1), Shanghai, July 25-July 27

Our family's 5-week trip to China flew so quickly that it hardly felt like it was that long. Despite the rapid economic growth, I cannot access my blog (or any blogs hosted outside China) in China. Yes I know, it has little to do with economics, but everything to do with stability as the government puts it. Anyway, I'm trying to recall our trip and stay in China.

We arrived at Pudong international airport, stayed at a small hotel nearby, and spend two nights and one day in Shanghai. It was very hot and humid, and the cicadas were very loud. I forgot how noisy they could be. Because the children were tired and didn't want to go anywhere in the heat, we only went to one place, air-conditioned Shanghai Museum. The museum building is beautiful and it has great collections on display but the kids were not very interested.
Shanghai subway, very clean.

A couple of displays in the museum.
